Authorities Charge Three with Illegal Construction in Biogradska Gora

Law enforcement officials in Berane have filed criminal charges against three individuals for illegal construction activities within the protected area of the National Park Biogradska Gora. This action is part of ongoing efforts to combat environmental crime and protect natural resources in the region, according to the Police Administration’s announcement.

The charges were brought against three residents of Berane: M. Š., M. P., and R. V.. Following their identification, police submitted the cases to the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Berane. The individuals are suspected of constructing buildings without the necessary permits and documentation.

According to police reports, M. Š. allegedly constructed two structures—both weekend cottages measuring 5×4 meters and 5×3 meters—within the national park in July 2022. Similarly, M. P. is accused of erecting a structure measuring 2.5×3 meters at the same location in June 2023. Additionally, R. V. is under suspicion for building a larger structure, measuring 7×6.4 meters, also within the park’s boundaries.

The police have informed relevant inspection authorities about these illegal constructions to initiate actions aimed at their removal. The ongoing operations reflect a broader commitment to uphold national priorities concerning environmental protection and to ensure compliance with legal standards in construction practices.
