Bolton’s McAtee Hails Cozier-Duberry After Cardiff Triumph
Bolton Wanderers secured a vital 1-0 victory against Cardiff City, with Amario Cozier-Duberry emerging as the match-winner. The winger, on loan from Brighton, delivered a stunning long-range strike in the 94th minute, marking his fourth goal of the season. This result places Bolton just three points behind Cardiff, who currently lead the league table.
John McAtee, a fellow Bolton player, publicly praised Cozier-Duberry’s performance on social media, describing him as the “Best player ever” in response to the club’s celebration of the goal. Since joining the team in the summer, Cozier-Duberry has quickly become a fan favorite, contributing significantly with four goals and four assists thus far. His impactful play has made him a crucial asset in Bolton’s pursuit of promotion.
Cozier-Duberry’s latest goal not only showcased his skill but also underscored his importance to the team. His ability to create chances and threaten defenses has elevated Bolton’s attacking play. Since joining, he has outperformed all teammates in terms of goals and assists, with only Mason Burstow matching his total of eight contributions—seven goals and one assist.
Bolton’s head coach, Steven Schumacher, faced pressure to improve the team’s performance earlier in the month. The recent victory against Cardiff marks their third win in four matches, propelling them to seventh place in the league after 14 games. The team is now well-positioned as they aim for a promotion push this season.
As Bolton prepares for their next challenge, an FA Cup first-round clash against League One rivals Huddersfield Town on November 1, 2023, Cozier-Duberry’s presence will be key. Supporters have expressed concern about the possibility of him being recalled by Brighton in January, which could jeopardize his development and the team’s momentum. For now, both the player and the club appear to be benefiting from this loan arrangement, with Cozier-Duberry proving to be instrumental in their campaign.
Overall, the victory against Cardiff served as a reminder of Cozier-Duberry’s potential and importance to Bolton Wanderers, reinforcing the belief that he could play a pivotal role in their ambitions this season.
