Sean Dyche Names Nottingham Forest Squad for Bournemouth Clash
Nottingham Forest head coach Sean Dyche has made significant adjustments to his squad for the match against Bournemouth, kicking off at the Vitality Stadium at 14:00 today. The announcement follows a decisive 2-0 victory over Porto in the Europa League, marking Dyche’s first match in charge of the Premier League side.
Dyche has introduced one enforced change to the starting lineup, with Nicolo Savona stepping in for the injured Oleksandr Zinchenko. Injuries have also sidelined Chris Wood and Dilane Bakwa, further impacting squad selection. Notably absent from the matchday squad is summer signing James McAtee, who is not on the bench. Reports indicate that his exclusion is a tactical decision rather than injury-related.
The depth of Forest’s attacking options has led to tough choices for Dyche as he navigates his first Premier League match. He acknowledged the challenges of integrating his strategies, stating, “We have had to cram weeks of work into days and the players have been receptive.” Dyche emphasized the importance of balance: “There has to be a framework but there has to be a freedom. I want us to attack well and then get back into shape.”
After a long stretch without a win, Dyche’s midweek triumph against Porto brought a significant morale boost to the team. The victory was their first across all competitions since the opening day of the season, ending a winless streak that had persisted since defeating Brentford under former manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Igor Jesus, along with a clean sheet, were critical in lifting spirits at the City Ground.
As Forest prepares to face Bournemouth, Savona will start at right-back, with Neco Williams shifting to the left. The defensive lineup will comprise Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo in front of goalkeeper Matz Sels. The midfield will feature Douglas Luiz and Elliot Anderson, while Dan Ndoye, Gibbs-White, and Callum Hudson-Odoi will support front man Jesus.
The substitutes bench includes Victor John, Morato, Ibrahim Sangare, Taiwo Awoniyi, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Nicolas Dominguez, Omari Hutchinson, Ryan Yates, and Jair Cunha. This match not only represents an opportunity to secure points but also a chance for Dyche to further establish his vision for the team.
