Christian Horner Eyes F1 Comeback, Sees ‘Unfinished Business’

Christian Horner, the former team principal of Red Bull Racing, has expressed interest in returning to Formula 1, stating he has “unfinished business” in the sport. After two decades leading the team, Horner was relieved of his duties earlier in 2025, during which he oversaw an impressive tally of eight drivers’ world championships and six constructors’ titles.

Horner spoke at the European Motor Show in Dublin on January 31, 2025, where he reflected on his career and the circumstances surrounding his departure from Red Bull. “I feel like I have unfinished business in Formula One,” he remarked. “It didn’t finish the way that I would have liked it to finish.”

The 52-year-old resides in a £9.2 million home near Banbury, alongside his wife, Geri Halliwell-Horner. Reports indicate that Horner negotiated an £80 million payout following his exit, a figure that underscores the significant role he played in the team’s success.

Currently, Alpine F1 Team has confirmed discussions with Horner regarding a potential minority stake in the organization. The team stated, “It is no secret that Otro Capital has held preliminary talks to sell its stake in the team,” indicating that interest from various parties has surged with the growing valuation of Formula 1 teams.

Horner emphasized that any return would need to be meaningful. “I am not going to come back for just anything. I only want to return for something that can win,” he stated. He expressed his desire to be more than just a hired hand, aiming to collaborate with individuals who share his competitive spirit. “I miss the sport, I miss the people, I miss the team that I built,” he added, reflecting on his extensive experience in the racing world.

His tenure in Formula 1 was marked by significant achievements, including numerous race victories and collaborations with exceptional drivers and engineers. Despite the allure of a return, Horner noted he is in no rush and could comfortably conclude his career if the right opportunity does not arise.
