Man Arrested After Stealing Donation Box from Risn’s Temple
Authorities have apprehended a 41-year-old man, identified as E.A., for allegedly stealing a donation box from a temple in Risn. The incident occurred on February 16, 2024, at approximately 17:00 local time. Following a coordinated effort by the Kotor Security Department, E.A. was located shortly after the theft while attempting to leave the area.
According to a statement from the Police Administration, E.A. entered the temple and removed the donation box from the church shop situated within the premises. After committing the theft, he fled in an unknown direction. The swift response from local law enforcement led to his identification and capture in Lastva Grbaljska, along the Kotor-Budva route.
Upon apprehension, officers discovered a stolen amount of money, a starting pistol, and a significant quantity of “Ksalol” tablets, which are classified as narcotic drugs. The authorities noted that E.A. has a prior criminal record related to property offenses, indicating a pattern of behavior.
The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Kotor has been informed about the situation. Following their directive, E.A. was taken into custody, and a criminal complaint has been filed against him for the theft. The case is expected to proceed through a shortened legal process due to the nature of the offenses involved.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding property crimes affecting religious institutions, prompting calls for increased security measures in such vulnerable locations. The swift actions of law enforcement in this case demonstrate a commitment to addressing these issues and ensuring community safety.
