The Mornar basketball team is set to return to action in the ABA2 League after a month-long break, with a current record of two wins and one loss. They will face Sloboda in Tuzla at 18:00 today, despite dealing with a series of injury issues that have affected their performance.

Mornar’s head coach, Mihailo Pavićević, acknowledged the impact of injuries on the team, particularly the absence of their primary playmaker. He stated, “We have faced many problems with injuries to our playmaker. We were without him for a long time, and it’s difficult for any coach to organize a game without a playmaker.” Pavićević expressed optimism about the situation, noting that the team had remained calm despite the challenges.

The return of American player Alston Mejson from injury has provided a boost. However, he also mentioned ongoing health concerns within the squad. “Many players have been sidelined, and I’m still not at 100 percent,” Mejson said. He praised the team’s chemistry and highlighted the adjustments made by Pavićević in both offense and defense.

Mornar has performed commendably in their domestic league, notching five wins against three losses. Pavićević reflected on this achievement, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the games they should have won rather than those they lost. “We are taking it step by step. As the season progresses, I believe we will play better,” he remarked.

Ahead of the game against Sloboda, who hold a record of one win and two losses, Pavićević noted the competitive nature of the ABA2 League. “Every team is strong, and no one can really claim to be the favorite. The team that is more prepared to impose their style of play has a better chance of winning,” he explained.

With the game approaching, both Mornar and Sloboda are eager to secure a victory to improve their standings in the league. The match promises to be a crucial test for Mornar as they aim to build momentum and overcome the challenges posed by injuries.
