Tottenham Hotspur is in discussions with former Juventus head coach Igor Tudor to take over as their new manager. This move comes on the heels of the club’s decision to part ways with Thomas Frank less than twelve hours after a 2-1 defeat at home against Newcastle United earlier this week.

Spurs are currently exploring both short-term and long-term managerial options following Frank’s exit. Among those being considered are Marco Rose and Edin Terzic. Additionally, Mauricio Pochettino remains a potential candidate, particularly after the conclusion of the United States’ campaign at the upcoming World Cup.

According to Sky Sport Italy, talks took place between Tottenham and Tudor, along with his agent Anthony Seric, on Friday morning. The 47-year-old Croatian has reportedly been offered a contract that extends until June. Tudor is currently deliberating on the offer, with indications suggesting that he is likely to accept the position despite the temporary nature of the deal.

Urgency for a New Manager

A final decision from Tudor is expected within hours, as Tottenham aims to appoint a new manager before their next Premier League match against Arsenal on February 22. The club finds itself in a precarious position, sitting at 16th in the league and just five points above the relegation zone.

Tudor’s coaching career includes a notable stint at Juventus, where he was appointed head coach in March 2022. However, his tenure was cut short in October after the team experienced a winless streak spanning eight games. Previously, Tudor has managed clubs such as Hajduk Split, PAOK, Karabukspor, Galatasaray, Udinese, Hellas Verona, Marseille, and had an 11-game spell with Lazio.

As Tottenham seeks stability, the choice of Tudor could represent a significant shift in the club’s direction. The urgency to finalize this appointment underscores the critical moment in the season for Spurs, who are battling to avoid relegation and regain their competitive edge in the Premier League.
