Zelensky Calls for Retaliation Against Russia for Ongoing War Crimes
In a recent address to the citizens of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky asserted that Russia is solely responsible for the ongoing war and its protracted nature. He emphasized that the country deserves all retaliatory measures for its actions against human life, diplomacy, and international partnerships. The remarks were made on January 10, 2026, through social media channels, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
Zelensky stated, “Only Russia is the source of this war and the reason the war is being dragged out.” He underscored the importance of Ukraine’s intelligence services, which are actively monitoring and documenting Russia’s attempts to undermine Ukraine’s relationships with its partners. This includes tracking the lobbyists that Moscow engages and the internal operations it seeks to initiate within Ukraine and Europe.
The President noted that Ukraine’s response would be tangible, involving cooperation with special services and intelligence agencies, as well as political collaboration with international partners. “Our answer will be palpable — through our special services, through intelligence agencies, through political cooperation with partners, and especially through sanctions,” he added.
Zelensky also expressed appreciation for the renewed efforts by the United States Congress towards implementing stricter sanctions against Russia, particularly those targeting the oil sector. He stated, “This can truly be effective. I thank everyone who is helping.” The move underscores a growing consensus among international allies regarding the need for increased pressure on Russia in light of its actions in Ukraine.
As the conflict continues to unfold, Zelensky’s statements reflect not only a call to action but also a reminder of the critical role that international cooperation plays in addressing security threats. The ongoing support from global partners remains pivotal for Ukraine as it navigates this challenging landscape.
