KIC Pop Choir Celebrates 9th Anniversary with 150th Concert
The KIC Pop Choir in Podgorica celebrated its ninth anniversary with a vibrant concert titled “150. Musical Embrace” at TC Big Fashion on February 27, 2026. This milestone event marked the choir’s 150th performance, showcasing a rich tapestry of musical styles and compositions that have contributed to its regional acclaim.
The concert commenced with a captivating original piece by the choir’s conductor, Mladen Čelebić, titled “Birthday,” dedicated to the first Montenegrin pop choir. The audience then enjoyed a selection of well-known anti-fascist songs, including “Računajte na nas,” “Zemljo moja,” and “Bela ćao.” These songs have played a significant role in establishing the choir’s recognition and popularity across the region.
In a segment dedicated to Podgorica and Montenegrin songs, the audience enthusiastically received several premieres. The choir performed a medley featuring “Oj svijetla majska zoro,” “Hvatajte se bijele ruke,” and “Gledala sam s Koma plava,” along with “Ja ću zvjezdu sreće” and “Evo zora u sto boja.” Notable performances included “Niđe nebo nije plavo,” “Makadamov Titograd,” and “Crna Goro kapljo vode,” composed by Sloba Kovačević.
The celebration continued with a pop block where the choir members displayed exceptional energy and emotion while performing hits like “Zlatni dan,” “Devojko mala,” and “Sve ove godine.” Soloists from the choir, Tanja Vujović, Ivana Marković, and Antigona Miličković, contributed to the dynamic atmosphere, delivering stirring renditions of songs such as “Hir, hir, hir” and “Stranac u noći.” Conductor Čelebić also showcased his vocal talent in a solo performance of “Olivera.”
The finale of this remarkable concert featured energetic numbers including “Hajde da ludujemo ove noći” and Željko Joksimović‘s “Čini mi se grmi, čini mi se sijeva.” The audience’s enthusiastic response led to two encores, one of which was the surprise addition of Momčilo Zeka Zeković’s “Crna gora je moj dom,” receiving an overwhelming ovation.
Established on March 1, 2017, under the auspices of the NGO Kutak, the KIC Pop Choir is renowned for its impressive style and musicality. During the anniversary concert, the choir donned a fresh stage wardrobe, garnering praise from attendees who remarked that they were ready for the San Remo festival, both stylistically and musically. The choir’s stylist for the past nine years has been the creative Slobodanka Seka Martinović.
The choir’s founder and manager, Snežana Burzan Vuksanović, expressed her gratitude to TC Big Fashion for their logistical and visual support throughout the event. She announced upcoming performances, including participation in the XI International Choir Festival “Vienna Cantat” in Vienna, Austria, in the latter half of March. The choir will also take part in a regional choir festival in Brčko, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on April 4, and celebrate World Roma Day in Nikšić, as well as support a humanitarian initiative at the Children’s Home “Mladost” in Bijela on April 25.
The KIC Pop Choir continues to make a significant impact in the cultural landscape, demonstrating its dedication to both musical excellence and community engagement.
