Slađana Pejović and Miljan Kukuličić Win Montenegro Cross Country Championships
The 68th Montenegro Cross Country Championships took place under ideal conditions at Trebjesa in Niksic, where Slađana Pejović and Miljan Kukuličić emerged as champions. This event marked the official opening of the athletics season in Montenegro, featuring ten athletes from nine clubs, including Mornar, Lovćen, and Niksic, across various age categories.
In total, the competition attracted participants ranging from young competitors to seasoned veterans, demonstrating the broad appeal of athletics in the region. The races were held on a scenic trail, with perfect weather enhancing the experience for both athletes and spectators.
Slađana Pejović from Niksic showcased her talent in the senior women’s 3000-meter race, securing the top position. Meanwhile, Miljan Kukuličić from the Mornar club dominated the senior men’s 6000-meter event. The championships highlighted the strength of the Mornar club, which collected a remarkable twelve medals, surpassing competitors from Jedinstvo with nine medals and Lovćen with six.
The event was attended by prominent figures from the Montenegro Athletic Federation, including General Secretary Milan Madžgalj and the national team selector Osman Erović. The president of the local organizing club, Tomislav Tomo Žižić, also offered welcoming remarks, emphasizing the event’s significance for local athletics.

– Cicibani (800m): 1. Maid Alomerović (Sanja), 2. Pavle Popović (Mornar), 3. Novak Mrdak (Sparta)
– Mlađi pioniri (1000m): 1. Faruk Međedović (Sanja), 2. Viktor Jančić (Mornar), 3. Lazar Gvozdenović (Mornar)
– Senior men (6000m): 1. Miljan Kukuličić (Mornar), 2. Todor Nikolić (Niksic), 3. Davor Kujović (Sparta)
In the women’s categories:
– Cicibanke (600m): 1. Sara Tvrdišić (Mornar), 2. Helena Husak (Mornar), 3. Ena Kasumović (Jedinstvo)
– Mlađe pionirke (800m): 1. Sofija Pejović (Mornar), 2. Lena Raičević (Jedinstvo), 3. Jana Ćetković (Sparta)
– Senior women (3000m): 1. Slađana Pejović (Niksic), 2. Lidija Todorović (Sparta), 3. Marina Marković (Lovćen)
Participants received diplomas and medals from the Montenegro Athletic Federation, celebrating their achievements in this competitive environment. The event not only showcased athletic prowess but also reinforced the community spirit within the sport, attracting fans and young athletes alike.
