Chilling Videos Reveal Casualties Amid Ongoing Protests in Iran
Videos circulating online reveal a grim situation in Iran, where bodies are reportedly piled on the streets in the aftermath of violent protests. The footage, which has emerged from various locations, depicts a scene reminiscent of a conflict zone. Many individuals are seen outside a forensic institute in Kahrizak, located south of the capital, Tehran, as they search for missing loved ones.
According to the US-based Human Rights Activist News Agency, approximately 495 protesters and 48 security personnel have died since the onset of these mass protests. Over the past two weeks, the agency reports that more than 10,600 individuals have been detained amid the ongoing unrest. The demonstrations, which began as a response to the Iranian government’s policies, have escalated into widespread calls for change, attracting large crowds in Tehran and cities across the nation.
Tragic Accounts from the Protests
The stark reality of the protests is highlighted by footage from the Forensic Diagnostic and Laboratory Centre of Tehran Province. This morgue in Kahrizak shows rows of body bags and around 180 shrouded bodies, many of which are exposed. In the videos, anguished cries can be heard from those searching for relatives, underscoring the human cost of the unrest. To protect the identities of those in the videos, images have been deliberately blurred, as individuals could face further persecution by authorities.
One poignant case is that of Robina Aminian, a 23-year-old fashion student who was shot in the head during the protests. After attending classes, she joined the demonstrations, only to lose her life in the turmoil. Family members reported to Sky News that officials initially obstructed their efforts to recover her body. Eventually, her family managed to bury her quietly in Kermanshah, located in western Iran.
Government Response and Accusations
The Iranian government has reacted strongly to the protests. President Masoud Pezeshkian attributed the unrest to external forces, specifically blaming the United States and Israel. He claimed that these nations trained individuals to incite violence within Iran, alleging that they had orchestrated attacks against various institutions, though he did not provide evidence to support these assertions.
Iran’s attorney general has issued a stark warning, stating that anyone participating in protests would be considered an “enemy of God,” a designation that carries the potential for the death penalty. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has dismissed the demonstrators as a “bunch of vandals,” accusing them of seeking to align with external adversaries, such as former President Trump.
In a show of national mourning, the Iranian government has declared a three-day period of remembrance for what it calls “martyrs killed in the Iranian national battle against the US and Israel.” As the situation continues to develop, the world watches closely, with many calling for an end to the violence and a resolution to the underlying issues prompting these protests.
