Man Pleads Guilty to Terrorist Activity After Attacking McGregor’s Pub
A man has pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including terrorist-related activities, stemming from an attack on a pub owned by UFC champion Conor McGregor. Abdullah Khan, 24, was caught on CCTV setting fire to the front of the Black Forge Inn on July 25, 2025, in Dublin. Following this incident, he assaulted two police officers, known as gardai, just days later in the city centre.
Khan appeared in the Special Criminal Court, where he faced a total of eight charges connected to these events. The prosecution stated that Khan damaged property by fire without lawful excuse, specifically targeting McGregor’s establishment on Drimnagh Road. The court heard that four days after the arson, on July 29, Khan attacked a garda, injuring one officer and attempting to harm another. During this confrontation, he was reported to have brandished a knife, leading to additional charges of endangerment.
In court, Khan entered guilty pleas to all eight charges, which included two counts of engaging in terrorist activity. His defence counsel, Michael Bowman SC, highlighted a “complex psychological background” to the case and requested a report on the defendant’s mental health.
Ms Justice Karen O’Connor, presiding over the case, adjourned proceedings to allow for the preparation of victim impact statements. The case will resume on March 23, with Khan remaining in custody until then.
The incidents have raised concerns about public safety and the implications of such violent behavior in communities. Khan’s actions, particularly the arson of a prominent local business, have prompted discussions around the need for increased security measures in urban areas.
